Summary
Mulungu is a native Brazilian tree, traditionally used to promote deep relaxation. When well dosed, many report no excessive daytime drowsiness.
Benefits
Traditionally used as adjuvant in mild anxiety, insomnia, muscle tension, PMS, and nervous palpitations. Being sedative, use for limited time and with guidance if on meds or with chronic disease.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Mulungu bark
- 500ml water
Preparation
- 1. Boil water with Mulungu bark for 10 minutes.
- 2. Let rest for 5 minutes more.
- 3. Strain and drink in 2 or 3 doses throughout the day.
Notes
Adult use. Generally not exceeding 2–3 cups/day, for short periods (up to about 2 weeks), unless guided otherwise. Avoid combining with other sedatives, anxiolytics, antidepressants, or alcohol without medical advice. Do not drive if drowsy. Pregnant or nursing women, and people with liver, kidney, heart, neurological diseases, or on multiple medications, should consult a doctor. Not for children.
