Excellent

Summary

Cough, phlegm, congestion — respiratory issues are annoying. This blend combines herbs traditionally used as expectorants and mild anti-inflammatories to ease breathing.

Benefits

May help thin mucus, relieve productive cough, reduce chest heaviness, and ease breathing in mild colds. Does not replace bronchodilators, antibiotics, or medical care, especially in shortness of breath, high fever, or severe pain.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon eucalyptus leaves
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 cloves
  • 500ml water
  • Juice of half a lemon and honey (optional)

Preparation

  1. 1. Boil water with ginger, cinnamon, and cloves for 10 minutes.
  2. 2. Turn off heat.
  3. 3. Add eucalyptus and thyme, cover and steep for another 10 minutes.
  4. 4. Strain and serve.

Notes

Preferably adult use. Generally, up to 2–3 cups a day for a few days in mild cases. Not recommended for small children without pediatric guidance, and honey is contraindicated under 1 year. People with asthma, chronic bronchitis, major allergies, heart disease, or on anticoagulants should consult a doctor.
